Our Story

In June 1996, Alan and Joy Clayton along with two other couples, arrived in Conroe with a shared vision: to establish The Ark Church for the saving of households. Today, The Ark Church remains committed to this purpose, focusing on children, youth, and community outreach. Whether you belong to a household of one or many, this is a welcoming haven where you can wholeheartedly embrace a life dedicated to God, pursue spiritual growth, and actively contribute to making a difference in the world.

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT...

The Bible

At The Ark Church, we base all our beliefs on the authority of Scripture. We believe the entire Bible is inspired, infallible, and without error. We strive to keep God’s Word first and maintain biblical standards of living and leadership. We believe that living according to God's Word is the way to the life God intended. (2 Timothy 3:16; Proverbs 30:5)

The Trinity

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that God the Father is the Creator of the world and is actively involved in humanity. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of a virgin, who came to earth as a human and as Savior of the world. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross, rose again, is alive today, and one day will return to make all things right. We believe that the Holy Spirit is continuing the work of Jesus upon the earth through the Church and a variety of spiritual gifts. (1 John 5:7, Matthew 3:16-17, Isaiah 7:14, John 1:14, 1 Timothy 2:5, Luke 24:5-7, Acts 24:15, Joel 2:28-29, Mark 16:17, Acts 2:38-39, Hebrews 2:4, Romans 12:4-8, 1 Corinthians 12, 1 Peter 4:10)

Salvation

We believe that Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for our sins. We believe that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a free gift from God available to anyone and everyone who believes and confesses with their mouth that Jesus is Lord; it is not a result of our good works or any human efforts. (Romans 5:1; Romans 5:8-9, Ephesians 1:7, Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 4:12)

Relationship with God

We believe that every believer should be in a growing relationship with Jesus, becoming more like Him by obeying God's Word and yielding to the Holy Spirit. (Philippians 3:12-13)

Communion

We believe in regularly receiving communion, taking bread and juice as an act of remembering the sacrifice that Jesus made when He gave His body and blood for us by dying on the cross. At The Ark, anyone who has said YES to being a follower of Jesus may take communion. (1 Corinthians 11:24-25)

Tithing

We believe that tithing is for all believers. This principle is discussed throughout the Bible. Tithing is giving God the first 10% of our income through the local church and is a practical way we acknowledge that God is first in our lives. (Proverbs 3:9, Matthew 6:20)
