Prayer & Fasting

Last year we started a month of prayer and fasting. It worked so well we are doing it again this year. Fasting is not necessarily going without food. Some people are fasting television, the internet, sugar, etc… Pastor Alan is fasting sugar, as in no candy.

Join us in this fast, allowing yourself to devote more time to God. January 8th through Super Bowl Sunday, February 5th. Last year we prayed the Lord’s Prayer together and it changed lives. Pray this as a prayer at least three times a day. Some people said this revolutionized their prayer life.

Some people question whether they have the faith to pray. Just do it. Pray and the faith will come. Some people ask, “what if I don’t feel anything?” It doesn’t matter. Just ask God to meet you at your point of need. If you draw close to God, He will draw close to you.

We are doing this daily as a staff and a church family. This year we are adding more to our fasting and prayer time. Along with the Lord’s Prayer and Psalm 23, we are adding in the Prayer of Jabez. God is real and He is a rewarder. Join us daily spending more time with God, and watch what he can do in your life.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.

They kingdom come, They will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory , forever, and ever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)

The 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me besides the still waters.

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For you are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house for the Lord Forever. Psalm 23 (NKJV)

Prayer of Jabez

…Oh that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I would not cause pain! 1Chronicles 4:10 (NKJV)
